idsMED Malaysia supported 20th Penang Teaching Conference for General Practitioners

The event’s aim is to stimulate scientific thinking & impart knowledge to this special breed of doctors who form the backbone of medical practice in this county. The two and half days’ program consisted of lectures on a wide range of topics. On 14th September, there was a pre-conference workshop.

On 14th September 2017, idsMED organized a basic abdominal ultrasound workshop in collaboration with Malaysia Medical Association Penang. The workshop was held in Bayview Georgetown Hotel and was attended by 32 medical practitioners from both private and government hospitals. 

Professor Dato’ Humairah Samad Cheong, a prominent radiologist led the talk with fruitful discussion and participation from the crowd in regards to ultrasound knowledge. 3 live scanning and hands-on sessions were conducted concurrently after lunch by the professor, an application specialist from our principle GE Healthcare, as well as the clinical application personnel from idsMED. Basic techniques as well as the do’s and don’ts of ultrasound scanning were demonstrated during the workshop and participants were encouraged to ask questions and try their hands on scanning a real-life person. 

At the conclusion of the workshop sessions, participant’s feedbacks were overwhelmingly positive and they expressed their interest in attending future ultrasound workshops.
