Penang Family Medicine Specialist (FMS) Ultrasound Workshop

After the long Movement Control Order and with the Covid 19 situation stabilized, idsMED Malaysia finally had its first face to face workshop event on 15 January 2022. IdsMED Malaysia’s Northern Branch Commercial Team and its Clinical Specialists Team conducted the ‘Penang Family Medicine Specialist (FMS) Ultrasound Workshop: Versana Series’ at The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel, Penang.

The half-day workshop showcased the Versana Essential and Versana Balance of the GE Ultrasound Versana equipment.

Working closely with Dr. Norhasimah Ismail, Head of Family Medicine Specialist (FMS), idsMED invited members of the Family Medicine Specialist & Senior Medical Officers from Penang. A total of 38 participants attended the workshop, with the majority of them being users of idsMED medical equipment.

The workshop began with the lectures of Ms. Nurul Hanna and Ms. Norain Tokemin, idsMED Clinical Specialists. They shared clinical knowledge by providing tips and tricks in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Abdominal Scanning.

This was followed by hands-on training in ultrasound scanning which was led by the clinical application specialists. Then, Mr. Patrick Lee, GE Healthcare Primary Care Product Manager, introduced the new GE Versana Balance, which will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of scan results.

The Family Medicine Medical Officers and Specialists present were not only pleased with the workshop, and also appreciated the comprehensive guidance provided, which included clinical and hands-on training. The basic general abdominal and gynaecological scans introduced were new, apart from their routine practice of obstetrics scans. The participants were excited to gain new knowledge and methods through the innovative technology powered by GE Healthcare.

This event was also attended by idsMED Malaysia’s MD and SVP, Mr Ainul Hasnizam, who was delighted that both the Clinical Specialist Team and Northern Branch Commercial Team had successfully gathered 38 esteemed doctors to participate in this event. He further encouraged the Clinical Specialist Team to organise similar workshops in other states, which will tentatively begin from March 2022 onwards.

What is Ultrasound Versana Series?
The Versana series has remarkable clinical features and excellent information reference to help refresh instructions or education received. It features a mighty Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, called ‘Scan Coach’ which provides a comprehensive on-site tutorial with 3D animation, schematic diagrams and reference images for up to five scanning applications, particularly on:
• Obstetrics,
• Gynaecology,
• Abdominal,
• Vascular, and
• Echo.
