Premature birth is the leading cause of death in children under the age of five worldwide. Babies born too early may have more health issues than babies born on time, and may face long-term health problems that affect the brain, the lungs, hearing or vision.

World Prematurity Day is observed on 17 November each year to raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families worldwide.Approximately 15 million babies are born preterm each year, accounting for about one in 10 of all babies born worldwide.

On November 17 idsMED ask you to take action to support the global movement. Through social media, we can support the awareness and get involved! You can change your profile pictures to a World Prematurity Day one on Facebook and Instagram to help raise awareness on November 17. Be sure to post photos to social media with #givethemtomorrow #worldprematurityday #idsMED #WeCarewithAHeart.

Join this global movement to save the smallest among us.
