On 3 October 2023, over 20 endoscopy physicians and nurses attended an industry symposium organised by idsMED Singapore and Steelco, held at the idsMED Learning Academy. In addition to discussions on clinical risks related to endoscopy and its solutions, products related to endoscopy were showcased during this symposium.

idsMED Singapore invited two resource speakers to share their insights on important topics related to healthcare and clinical risk management.

Dr. Francesco Venneri, who serves as the Chief Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Manager at the Florence Healthcare Trust in Tuscany, Italy, is an Emergency Surgeon and Traumatologist who brought a wealth of experience to the discussion. Ms. Elisa Basso, the Product Line Manager, Endoscopy at Steelco, who has over nine years of experience in the field of infection control and medical devices, also provided her expertise on the topic.

Dr. Venneri shared invaluable insights on “Endoscopy Reprocessing Efficiency and the Impact on Healthcare, A Clinical Risk Management Approach to Patient Safety” while Ms. Basso delivered a presentation on “Endoscopy Reprocessing: Steelco Solutions for Clinical Risk Prevention.”

The evening commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Shrikanth Sankar, idsMED Singapore’s Managing Director & SVP. Following his address, Dr. Venneri and Ms. Basso delivered their presentations.

Dr. Venneri highlighted the critical issue of Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI), which poses a serious threat to healthcare quality. He emphasised that a key contributing factor to HAI is the reprocessing of medical devices. Therefore, he stressed that the main goal should be to optimise medical device reprocessing through training and increasing awareness among all healthcare workers. Ms. Basso then provided comprehensive solutions for clinical risk prevention, including a segment on microbiological surveillance.

In addition to the valuable insights from the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a range of endoscopy-related products such as the Steelco Endoscopy Washer (EW1S) and products from familiar brands such as Anios, Ansell, Sandel and InnoQ.

Symposiums like this offer significant benefits to both attendees and idsMED as a solution provider. They serve as a platform for everyone to gain insights from experts, fostering a stronger sense of community within the field of endoscopy in Singapore.

Success is achievable with determination and teamwork. Congratulations to Team idsMED SG for their tremendous effort in this symposium!
