The National Library Board (NLB) organised the Time of Your Life (TOYL) Celebration on top of its ongoing Tech Bazaar initiative. The TOYL event featured informative talks, creative workshops, learning communities and resources for seniors aged 50 and above, aligning with the goals of the Digital for Life movement and the Smart Nation Initiative. The Tech Bazaar aims to encourage seniors to experience and discover some of the latest emerging technologies. At the same time, NLB also aims to educate the public about how these technologies can enhance the daily lives of seniors in the community.

As part of idsMED Singapore’s community outreach initiative and in collaboration with the NLB, idsMED Singapore showcased various products from 27 to 28 October 2023 at the Central Public Library.

The spotlight was on various cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and robotics, and the two innovative products that captured the attention of passers-by were the SilverFit 3D and PARO Therapeutic Robot.

SilverFit 3D is a virtual therapy system designed for training gross motor skills and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) tasks during rehabilitation sessions. Meanwhile, the PARO serves as a replacement for live animals in animal therapy within healthcare institutions. This robotic companion is equipped with five sensors: tactile, light, auditory, temperature, and posture sensors, enabling intelligent interactions with people and the surrounding environment.

Kudos to the entire idsMED SG team for their ongoing commitment to these initiatives that bring potential benefits to communities across Singapore!
