Common Signs of Endometriosis

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain and inflammation. Severe menstrual cramps, chronic pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, digestive issues during periods, and difficulty conceiving can be warning signs. Early diagnosis is key to preventing complications. Persistent or intense symptoms should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.

Endometriosis is a medical condition in which cells like the lining of the uterus grow outside the uterus, causing pain and inflammation. Many women think that menstrual pain is normal, but severe pain during periods can be a sign of this condition. Due to limited awareness, many cases are not detected early, even though early diagnosis is important for preventing complications and managing signs properly. Here are some common signs of endometriosis that should not be ignored:
  • Severe menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea)
The pain can be intense and may disturb daily activities. Some women even need painkillers regularly.
  • Chronic pelvic pain
The pain does not only appear during menstruation but can also happen before or after that period.
  • Pain during intercourse
This may happen due to inflammation or abnormal cell growth around the pelvic area.
  • Digestive problems during periods
Some women experience bloating, diarrhoea, or constipation that becomes worse during menstruation.
  • Difficulty getting pregnant (infertility)
Endometriosis can affect reproductive organs and make it harder to conceive.
Raising awareness and recognising unusual symptoms are important first steps toward early diagnosis. If you experience persistent or severe symptoms, consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and appropriate treatment.
