The COVID-19 pandemic persists on an extended duration with its impact beyond estimations. We should not underestimate the toll this health crisis has on us. Staying healthy and maintaining equilibrium in all aspects of life is of paramount importance, especially on our health.

Use the following tips to help keep our body, mind, and spirit healthy, and become stronger in the new normal.

(1) Keep fit with more exercises

During the lockdown to help contain the virus’s spread, many people started doing exercises at home, and yoga has become especially popular among girls. This healthy lifestyle change is a positive outcome for many. However, if doing exercise is not a preference, walk to stay healthy is another option. We can take the stairs instead of using the elevator, or we can get off the bus one stop early and walk a little more.

(2) Screen for accurate medical information

Ever since the coronavirus began its onslaught, we have been overwhelmed with much information. Be aware of hoaxes and misreports. We can control what we consume by reading more medical books, columns, and news from trustable platforms.

(3) Cherish ourselves and our loved ones

The new norm of working from home and social distancing have isolated us physically and emotionally. We stay at home and rarely meet our friends and family, let alone going out to enjoy nature. Let the breath of fresh air and the ray of sunlight dispel all the negative mood and bring on the positivities. When feasible, have a stroll in the park to stay in touch with nature.

Start the day with meditation to relax our body and mind before commencing work and wind down with soothing music. At the same time, stay mindful of work-life balance by keeping connected with our loved ones and giving them support when necessary.

(4) Do not take ailments lightly

The COVID-19 pandemic reminds us that minor symptoms can be an alarming prelude of something serious. Never dismiss any physical signs of minor ailments as trivial or do self-medication. Make it a point to see a medical professional and get diagnosed properly.

Take a proactive approach towards our health with a regular body check and face any health problem bravely.
