During the two-day program held on 7–8 February at the idsMED Learning Academy in Glenmarie, participants were introduced to the concept and clinical applications of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), a bedside ultrasound performed by doctors to support real-time clinical assessment. The training also included hands-on sessions, giving doctors practical experience and a clearer understanding of how ultrasound technology can support clinical decision-making in primary healthcare settings.
POCUS was first developed by emergency doctors in the 1980s and 1990s, and it has since grown in importance as a tool in contemporary clinical practice. By allowing doctors to see anatomical structures and functional information that could not otherwise be detected, it enhances conventional physical examination techniques like palpation, percussion, and auscultation.
