idsMED Singapore Collaborates with the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) for Hybrid Anaesthesia Airway Workshop

Video Laryngeal Masks (VLMs) are the latest evolution of supraglottic airways, allowing the use of a vision-guided insertion technique to improve placement and avoid the incidence of malposition.

idsMED Singapore and the Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) collaborated in organising the very first hybrid Anaesthesia Airway workshop for a group of key anaesthetists from local hospitals as well as international participants. This workshop was held at the idsMED Learning Academy on 28 October 2022.

The event formally started with a welcome address by Mr. Shrikanth Sankar, idsMED Singapore Managing Director, which was followed by the opening remarks of Dr. Zhang Jin Bin, Senior Consultant and Lead of the SSA Airway Special Interest Group. They were followed by presentations from the esteemed speakers.

One of the esteemed speakers for the event was Prof. Tomasz Gaszynski, who shared about VLM SaCo – A Solution of Airway Challenges. Prof. Gaszynski is the Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy for the Medical University of Lodz, Poland, President of the Polish Society of Airway Management (section of Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy), Vice President of the European Society for Perioperative Care of Obese Patient and Member of Scientific Committee European Airway Management Society.

Subsequently, the second guest speaker, Prof. Zuo Mingzhang, talked about the Invention and Innovation of Video Supraglottic Airway Devices. Prof. Mingzhang is the Chief Expert for the Department of Anaesthesia at the Beijing Hospital, Committee Member for the Head of Airway Management at the Chinese Society of Anaesthesiology, Committee Member for the Chinese Association of Anaesthesiologists, President of the Beijing Association of Anaesthesiologists and Vice President of Beijing Society of Anaesthesiology.

After an insightful question and answer session, the idsMED team conducted hands-on product demonstrations for local participants who wish to know more about UE Medical products on display.

Local participants remarked that they are excited to share vital information on video laryngeal masks and products with their colleagues.
