“Nurses are the heart of healthcare.” Donna Wilk Cardillo

In idsMED, we believe that the Nurse is a healthcare hero. To enhance and sharpen their potential, idsMED Indonesia and KCI provided a Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) workshop on November 15th, 2019 at idsMED Jakarta Office Education and Training Room, sponsored by VAC products. We invited 30 Nurses from hospitals in Jakarta who are incorporated with PPNI (Indonesian National Nurses Association). The workshop aims to educate nurses about skin lesions, the types of wounds, examples of skin lesions and how to treat wounds using VAC tools. The method is called Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT). They used watermelon and papaya as a medium of the experiment.

The speakers in the event were dr. Syifa from Singapore, Commercial Manager and Product Manager from KCI, Mr. Calvin See and Mr. Ivan. The first session was presented by dr. Syifa. Afterward, Mr. Calvin explained the Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) Therapy System and how to use it. VAC Therapy System is a modern and unique tool to pull the tip of the wound, remove the exudate of the wound, improve perfusion, as well as to keep the humidity and improve the granulation by using the VAC Therapy Unit (ActiV.A.C. Therapy Unit).

The event not only discussed the steps to take care of cuts and scars but also conducted quizzes and QnA sessions. The participants looked enthusiastic and pleased. After announcing the quizzes’ winners, the event was closed with a photo session.
