idsMED Singapore Supports SGH & NHCS Infection Prevention Day

This October, the International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) as with previous years, once again focused on raising awareness about the significance of infection prevention and control.

In celebration of the International Infection Prevention Week 2023, idsMED Singapore supported the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) Infection Prevention Day 2023, themed “Spread Prevention, Not Infection!”. This educational event was held in SGH’s premises on 25 October 2023.

Educational booths were set up at SGH showcasing infection control-related solutions. The exhibit allowed all SingHealth staff including medical, nursing, allied health, ancillary and administrative staff to gain hands-on experience with idsMED’s product offerings. The goal was to emphasise the importance of proactive measures in their daily routines to prevent infections.

One notable highlight was the use of Ecolab’s Coucou Box as a training tool to show correct hand disinfection. With the help of a fluorescent hand sanitiser and LED-UV technology, it can detect areas of the skin that have not been disinfected properly because that area is not fluorescent.

Hospital staff were provided with the opportunity to refresh their knowledge and acquire new skills, all increasing their awareness of the significance of infection prevention and control.
