In Singapore, the healthcare industry is, among others, the largest and fastest-growing sector. To address the needs of the rapidly ageing population, the country is shifting its focus to preventive healthcare and early intervention. As chronic diseases require precise and accurate diagnosis, the demand for advanced diagnostic imaging devices is on the rise, driven by Singapore’s commitment to healthcare innovation.

Consequently, the need for qualified ultrasound professionals is increasing to meet the growing demand for hospital services.

With the aim of bringing together ultrasound professionals to share their knowledge and experiences, the Medical Ultrasound Society of Singapore (MUSS) organised the MUSS 21st Annual Seminar and AGM 2024 at the SingHealth Academia on 16 November 2024.

The event featured several key areas, starting with informative talks by invited speakers, Dr. Gita Karunde who discussed the Ultrasound of Post Operation Shoulder while Dr. Thinda Win focused on the Evaluation of Masses Using Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data Systems (ORADS).

In addition, a new segment had three training experts from different institutions participate in a panel discussion on “The Future of Ultrasound Training”, to share their insights and experiences.

Given the rising demand for skilled sonographers in Singapore’s expanding healthcare industry, on-the-job training has become extremely challenging, particularly for inexperienced sonographers themselves.

To complement the informative talks by the invited speakers, idsMED Singapore’s Imaging team showcased cutting-edge ultrasound technology, allowing attendees to gain a deeper understanding of how these technologies can enhance the diagnostic process.

Events like this seminar provide opportunities for organisers, attendees and exhibitors to stay updated with the latest advancements, form meaningful professional relationships and exchange ideas and innovative solutions.
