As areas of high concentration of important nerves, ENT surgery is often very complicated and can leave dangerous complications for patients.

In the process of ear surgery, nerve No. VII dominates the activity of facial muscles that are very susceptible, causing symptoms of Bell’s Palsy. Meanwhile, the laryngeal nerve is the one that needs special attention during the head and neck surgery, because if affected, the patients will lose theirs voice, have difficulty breathing, or even open the windpipe temporarily or permanently.

During the scientific activity in July, the doctors at the Central ENT Hospital had an opportunity to get acquainted with NIM 3.0 nerve monitoring systems, products of Medtronic and distributed by idsMED in Vietnam.

According to Associate Professor Pham Tuan Canh - Director of Central ENT Hospital, Nim 3.0 effectively supports surgeons in difficult cases, those who have to undergo surgery again or experience abnormalities in nerves.

Not only listen to share from experts from Medtronic & idsMED Vietnam, doctors also observe the process of ear and neck surgery, using NIM 3.0. The two surgeries were directly conducted by Associate Professor Pham Tuan Canh and Dr. Nguyen Hoang Huy.

Through this activity, idsMED wishes to continue to improve professional skills for doctors, nurses and health officers, improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for the future of the Vietnamese people.
