Chinese New Year is widely celebrated across Asia as a time of renewal, prosperity, and togetherness. Marked by vibrant traditions and meaningful gatherings, the festival brings communities together to welcome the year ahead with hope and positivity. This year, idsMED teams across Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia embraced the festive spirit through celebrations that honoured cultural heritage while strengthening connections among colleagues.
Thailand — 17 February 2026
The celebrations began in Thailand, where the Thai-Chinese community observed Chinese New Year Day on 17 February 2026. In the Thai-Chinese tradition, the observance spans three days: Shopping Day on 15 February, when families prepare offerings for deities and ancestors; Worship Day on 16 February, when rituals are performed to seek blessings for the coming year; and Chinese New Year Day, a time to visit loved ones and pay respects to elders.
One of the most meaningful customs is the exchange of Hong Bao, or red envelopes containing money, symbolising blessings, goodwill, and mutual respect across generations.
At idsMED Thailand, this tradition extends into the workplace. Each year, Managing Director Mr. Paithoon Pureethip personally visits staff members to offer his blessings and present Hong Bao as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and contributions. Some staff members also present oranges to senior colleagues as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune.
Indonesia — 20 February 2026
In Indonesia, idsMED hosted its annual Chinese New Year Gathering on 20 February 2026 at the idsMED Learning Academy, bringing colleagues together in a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Many attended in coordinated red attire, symbolising prosperity, happiness, and good fortune. The celebration began with the traditional Cao Cai Cing Pao procession, representing the welcoming of prosperity and blessings for the year ahead, followed by an energetic Lion Dance performance that filled the venue with excitement and festive spirit.
Colleagues also participated in a variety of games and activities that fostered cross-departmental interaction and camaraderie. Beyond the festivities, the gathering provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen relationships and celebrate the shared values that unite the organisation.
Singapore — 23 February 2026
idsMED Singapore continued the celebrations with an in-office Chinese New Year event on 23 February 2026 at the idsMED Learning Academy.
The afternoon began with opening remarks from Shrikanth Sankar, Senior Managing Director & EVP – Singapore & Group BSC, who extended his well wishes and encouraged colleagues to embrace the new year with renewed energy and optimism.
A highlight of the celebration was a lively Lion Dance performance, where rhythmic drumbeats echoed through the office as the lions made their way through corridors and workspaces, symbolically ushering in prosperity and good fortune. Colleagues followed along enthusiastically, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Another much-anticipated tradition was Lo Hei, where groups gathered around platters of yu sheng to toss the ingredients high while exchanging auspicious wishes for success, abundance, and good health.
Vietnam — 24 February 2026
On 24 February, the 8th day of the Lunar New Year in the Year of the Horse, the idsMED Vietnam team gathered to mark the first working days of the new year in a warm and festive spring atmosphere.
The gathering offered colleagues an opportunity to reconnect after the holiday period, exchange well wishes for health, peace, and success, and begin the year with renewed energy and optimism.
As part of the celebration, red lucky envelopes were shared, symbolising prosperity and good fortune for the months ahead. The occasion reflected a collective spirit of unity and readiness as the team looked forward to another year of growth, collaboration, and shared achievements.
Malaysia — 27 February 2026
The regional celebrations concluded in Malaysia, where idsMED Malaysia welcomed the Lunar New Year with a Lion Dance performance on 27 February 2026 at the idsMED office.
The vibrant performance energised the workplace and symbolised success, happiness, and good fortune for the year ahead. Management and staff gathered to enjoy the lively display, creating a joyful and memorable start to the new year.
More than a festive occasion, the celebration reflected idsMED Malaysia’s commitment to nurturing a positive workplace culture while honouring traditions that bring people together.
Across the region, these celebrations served as a reminder that beyond business, it is the spirit of community, appreciation, and shared traditions that truly bring people together. As the new year begins, idsMED looks forward to another year of collaboration, growth, and continued success.
Gong Xi Fa Cai, and best wishes for a prosperous year ahead.
