On 9–10 July 2026, surgeons, healthcare professionals, and industry partners gathered at the 16th Annual Convention of the Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES), held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City. Centred on the theme, “Back to the Future: Reclaiming Purpose, Designing the Future of Surgery”, the two-day convention explored developments shaping the practice of surgery.
During the convention, idsMED Philippines showcased products from Ansell, Sandel, and its in-house brand, InnoQ, alongside the EDGE Medical Surgical Robotic System. Product Sales Specialists were on hand throughout the exhibition to engage with attendees, provide product information, and support discussions on the solutions on display.
A key highlight of the convention was the first luncheon symposium, featuring Dr Alfred Allen E. Buenafe, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Executive Director of the Philippine Centre for Advanced Surgery at Cardinal Santos Medical Centre. He delivered a lecture titled “Beyond Conventional Laparoscopy: The Robotic Advantage, Evidence, Education, Economics and Access”.
The session examined the evolving landscape of robotic surgery, including the role of emerging robotic platforms such as the EDGE Medical Surgical Robotic System. Dr Buenafe discussed features such as fluorescence imaging, integrated controls, automated setup, and telesurgery capabilities, highlighting their potential applications for advancing robotic-assisted surgical practice.
Through its participation in PALES 2026, idsMED Philippines continues to support education, innovation, and collaboration within the surgical community. By working closely with healthcare professionals and providing technologies that support evolving clinical needs, idsMED Philippines remains committed to advancing surgical care and supporting better patient outcomes across the Philippines.
