idsMED Singapore Showcases Care Technology at Japan Creative Centre

On 28 July 2025, idsMED Singapore presented HUG, a mobility support robot, at the Japan Creative Centre during a care tech event co-hosted with the Embassy of Japan. With expert insights from Prof. Shibata Tomohiro, attendees explored how robotics and AI can support ageing populations. Japan stands at the forefront of global innovation in the development and practical deployment of care technologies powered by robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). As the most rapidly ageing nation in the world, Japan faces an urgent need for advanced solutions that can support the daily lives and care of its older adult population.

In collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, idsMED Singapore showcased Hug, a mobility support robot, at the “Care Technologies for Older Adults in Super-Aged Japan: The Frontiers of Robotics and AI” event held at the Japan Creative Centre (JCC) on 28 July 2025.

Professor Shibata Tomohiro from the Kyushu Institute of Technology was invited as a guest speaker to share insights on how cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies can support older adults and help alleviate both the physical and mental burdens on their caregivers.

Following his presentation, attendees had the opportunity to test and explore Hug — a mobility support robot designed to assist healthcare workers and caregivers in transferring patients between seated and standing positions, particularly in bathrooms and hospital wards. This helps reduce strain on their backs when they care for the patients.

Attendees were intrigued by the capabilities of HUG as Ms. Catherine Wong, Product Sales Specialist from idsMED Singapore, explained and demonstrated its features. She also guided interested participants as they tried the device firsthand.

This initiative demonstrates our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to reduce operational strain while simultaneously strengthening the idsMED brand and expanding its visibility beyond the ASEAN region.
