Established in 1986, the International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) highlights the importance of infection prevention and control. Its primary focus is on educating both stakeholders and the general public about preventive measures to curb the spread of illnesses and infectious agents.

In celebration of the International Infection Prevention Week 2023, idsMED Singapore proudly sponsored a seminar organised by the Singapore Nurses Association (SNA), Infection Control Nurses Chapter on 14 October 2023. The theme of the event, “Hand Hygiene & Technology”, covered topics such as European regulations and standards related to infection prevention and the use of electronic monitoring systems to enhance hand hygiene compliance.

A vast range of products related to infection prevention and workplace safety were displayed during this seminar. This provided nurses specialising in the field of infection prevention and control an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest standards in infection control and explore the range of products and solutions offered by idsMED. Additionally, their enquiries were promptly addressed by the idsMED SG team stationed at the booth.

In addition to the showcase of products, knowledge sharing sessions delivered by the speakers received an overwhelming response from the audience. Mr. Benoit Biousse, Division Manager of Ecolab, Microbiology and Immunology, discussed the latest updates on European regulations and standards relating to infection control in his presentation titled “EN Standards Latest Update – Breaking the chain of infection”. He emphasised the importance of a comprehensive understanding of these standards to ensure high-quality infection control and prevention.

Ms. Lavinia Lopez, Marketing & Clinical Specialist of Ecolab, delivered a lecture on the use of technology to improve hand hygiene compliance, titled “Changing Hand Hygiene Behaviour: The Power of Nudging with Automated Hand Hygiene Monitoring”.

Concluding the sharing sessions, both Ms. Lee Shu Lay, Chairperson and Ms. Christine Eu, Member, from the SNA Infection Control Nurses Chapter shared their insights on the methodologies implemented in their respective hospitals to boost hand hygiene adherence and sustainability in their presentation titled “Improving Adherence in Hand Hygiene and Maintaining Sustainability”.

The afternoon ended with a networking lunch, which provided idsMED a valuable opportunity to better understand the attendees’ needs, which will be extremely helpful when introducing solutions to them.

Kudos to the entire team for their outstanding efforts in promoting the idsMED brand!
