Updating Advances On Breast Elastography

Breast elastography is a non-invasive imaging technique used to to help distinguish benign and malignant tumors, from which an appropriate treatment regimen is proposed.

Understanding the importance of elastography in breast cancer screening process, idsMED Vietnam in collaboration with Philips and Vietnamese Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine organized a workshop to update “Advances in Breast elastography”. The program attracted the participation of nearly 100 Doctors in terms of Diagnostic Imaging from Northern hospitals.

Within one day of organization, the conference content was quite diverse with many interesting topics being discussed such as: The role of ultrasound in breast cancer, Breast cancer by molecular classification or Breast interventions applied at Bach Mai Hospital.

In particular, the seminar also had the participation of Prof. Richard Gary Barr, Head of Diagnostic Imaging Department, North-side Medical Hospital, Ohio, USA. Introducing “Standard procedure to use Breast elastography to reduce invasion”, Professor Barr helped the participants to clarify a seemingly simple content, but not all medical doctors and MD doctors are familiar with it.

In addition to the theoretical sharing, in the afternoon, participants also had the opportunity to directly monitor and practice Breast elastography technique on EPIQ ELITE high-end ultrasound machine. The product is manufactured by Philips, currently distributed by idsMED in Vietnam.
