On 4-5 July, idsMED Vietnam collaborated with the Department of Upper Limb of the Ho Chi Minh Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopaedics in organising the training program on shoulder treatment.
The training program aimed to share updates and developments in shoulder treatment. It was attended by nearly 70 doctors from different departments including those who are undergoing their postgraduate training in this field from the two universities of medicine and pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City and the Pham Ngoc Thach School of Medicine.
During the 2-day training, participants were updated on the basic knowledge of shoulder replacement. Resource speakers comprised leading doctors and experts in shoulder treatment from the Ho Chi Minh Hospital and from the US, led by Dr. Le Gia Anh Thy, Head of the Department of Upper Limb of the Ho Chi Minh Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopaedics. Dr. Montgomery Kenneth Dale from the Tri-County Orthopaedics and Sports medicine, New Jersey, USA talked about socket in total shoulder replacement, while Dr. Mendez-Zfass Matthew Samuel from the Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, USA demonstrated the treatment of a wide rotator cuff tear.
The highlight of the training was the live shoulder surgery performed by the doctors of Ho Chi Minh Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopaedics’s Upper Limb Department under the consultancy of the American experts. The “SMR Reverse” introduced by Mr. Alessio Nardini, APAC Marketing Manager of Lima company was used during the surgery.
